Entry-Level Industrial Sales Representative

We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Industrial Sales Representative to join an established machine shop in Bay Minette, Alabama. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has knowledge or experience within the machining, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial industry and is interested in developing a long-term career in sales. The selected candidate will initially work closely with and shadow an experienced Sales Representative, learning the company's services, capabilities, customer base, quoting process, and overall sales approach. The goal is to train and develop this individual into a confident representative who can eventually manage customer relationships, develop new business, and represent the company in the field.

Responsibilities:

• Shadow and assist the company's experienced Sales Representative
• Learn the company's machining, fabrication, repair, and manufacturing capabilities
• Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, services, equipment, and processes
• Assist with communicating with existing and prospective customers
• Learn how to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate services
• Assist with preparing quotes, estimates, proposals, and customer follow-ups
• Maintain accurate records of customer conversations, opportunities, and sales activity
• Follow up with customers regarding quotes, projects, and service needs
• Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
• Learn how to identify and pursue new business opportunities
• Participate in customer visits and sales meetings
• Work closely with shop personnel to understand project requirements, capabilities, timelines, and customer expectations
• Gradually take responsibility for assigned accounts and prospective customers
• Travel locally and within the surrounding region to visit customers and represent the company at expos, conferences, etc.

Requirements:

• Knowledge or experience in machining, machine shops, manufacturing, fabrication, welding, industrial maintenance, or a related field is strongly preferred
• Previous professional sales experience is not required
• Interest in developing a career in industrial or outside sales
• Ability and willingness to learn technical products, services, and processes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable speaking with customers and building professional relationships
• Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take initiative
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills
• Ability to work closely with experienced team members and accept coaching
• Basic computer skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Professional appearance and attitude

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate may already have experience working in a machine shop, manufacturing facility, fabrication environment, industrial setting, or similar trade and is ready to transition into a customer-facing sales role. We're looking for someone who understands the industry but does not necessarily already have years of sales experience. The company is willing to train, mentor, and develop the right person into a successful Sales Representative.
